On Thursday December 30, 2021 our God in His infinite mercy called home his servant Valerie Patricia Williams – a kind, soft-spoken woman whose spirit lives in all those she touched.
Today, we celebrate the life of this beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend.
Valerie Williams was born on November 22, 1946 in the Parish of Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies. She was the first of three daughters born to Arthur and Lynda Nicholas (nee Hayden).
Valerie spent her early years in Jamaica where she gained her primary and secondary education and not long after entered business school. In 1966, she immigrated to the United Kingdom where she lived in London for the next 12 years. During this time, she worked for the Greater London Council and became a mother with the birth of her first daughter, Janet. In 1969, she met the love of her life Kenneth Williams and through this union came the birth of her second daughter, Diane. The couple got married in 1978 and the family immigrated later that year to the United States where they resided in Brooklyn, NY. Valerie was employed by the New York City Transit for 33 years and retired in 2012. Soon after, she and her husband relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Valerie had a love for American soul music with Gladys Knight as one of her favorite artists. She enjoyed going to Atlantic City to play the slot machines and was a "fashionista" in her own way and always dressed in the latest styles. She also loved traveling and made many trips back to her island home that always included visits to her parents.
Unfortunately, in 2013 she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s which she fought for the next several years. Sadly, she lost the battle and passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 4:45pm. She is now reunited with her beloved mother Lynda and her daughter Diane, in heaven.
She leaves behind her husband Ken, her father Arthur (who turned 100 this past October), her daughter Janet, her grandson Jordan, her siblings Gloria (Precious) Parker, Fraserlyn Nicholas, and Howard and Dwight Barrett, her nieces Jacqueline McLeish and Lydia Parker, her nephews Gregory Parker, and Jason and Jamar McLeish, in addition to a host of cousins, great nieces and great nephews, friends and former co-workers.
May her soul Rest In Eternal Peace - She will be greatly missed.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.baileymemorial.com for the Williams family.
