

He was born on January 24, 1946, in Puerto Rico.
Angel was a man of many talents and accomplishments. He served his country bravely as a combat medic in the Vietnam War, earning a Purple Heart for his valor. His dedication to service did not stop after his military career. Upon returning home, Angel continued to serve his community as a pharmacy technician, providing care to those in need.
Angel was a disciplined individual, known for his funny and generous spirit. He was a pillar of his community as a member of the Knights of Columbus and a dedicated Veterans Advocate. Throughout his life, Angel found joy in volunteering and traveling the world. His laughter and kindness will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Angel was preceded in death by Liborio Rivera Cruz, Juanita Ortiz Rivera, Wilfredo Rivera, Hector Rivera, Moses Rivera, Nellie Rivera, and Nora Rivera. He is survived by his wife, Irenes Noriega Rivera, his sons, Eric Rivera (Renee) & Javier Noriega (Therasa), and grandchildren, Julius Noriega, Antonio Rivera (Amanda), Lily Rivera, Josh Grace and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held in Angel's honor at the Garden of Memories Funeral home, 4207 E Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 12:00-12:45 pm, followed by a committal service at 1:00pm at Garden of Memories Cemetery. All who knew and loved Angel are welcome to join in celebrating his remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to veterans’ organizations in Angel's name. His dedication to advocating for veterans was a lifelong passion, and the family hopes to continue his legacy in this way.
Angel Rivera's life was a testament to service, sacrifice, and love. His memory will live on in the hearts of all he touched. His was truly a life well lived.
