Barbara Walters, a beloved mother, wife, and dedicated professional, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, in Tampa, Florida, surrounded by her family. Born on January 12, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland as the only child to Fritz and Barbara Mueller, Barbara moved to Florida as a teenager, where she would build a life defined by hard work, positivity, and love. Barbara was a devoted wife to Ron Walters, her husband of 60 years, who preceded her in death last year. Together they raised three sons—Stewart Iglehart, Greg Iglehart and Scott Walters—instilling in them the values of hard work, kindness, and optimism that they will forever carry forward. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished spending time with loved ones and friends. Known for her ever-present smile and unwavering positivity, Barbara rarely complained and always found reasons to celebrate life. Her family and friends will cherish memories of her radiant smile that lit up every room along with her impeccable sense of style, both of which are a true reflection of her elegant and vibrant spirit.
Barbara’s career spanned five decades. She worked for 30 years in fashion retail before transitioning to a role as an executive assistant at the Caspers Company in Tampa, FL. There, she supported Joe Casper and later Blake Casper for a combined 20 years until her retirement at the age of 70. Her colleagues remember her as a diligent and pleasant presence who always approached her work with kindness and professionalism. Barbara is survived by her three sons, Stewart, Greg, and Scott, as well as Greg’s wife Tracey, Stewart’s wife Stacy, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Her legacy is one of love and resilience. Barbara will be remembered for her warmth, generosity of spirit, and the profound impact she had on those fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her celebration of life will occur on February 17th at 1 pm at Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church with a reception immediately following at the Stovall House. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southeastern Guide dogs.
