
Bennie (Ben) Nalley Young, 88, died Saturday, July 9, 2011 in Tampa Fl. Born in Waco Texas, on November 7, 1922; Ben was the widow of the late Tampa physician, U.A. Young, M.D. She was a graduate of Baylor University. She was a Master Flower Show Judge, accomplished flower arranger, and long time member of the Old Fashioned Garden Club. She and her husband were also accomplished collectors and growers of tropical plants, especially palms and cycads, and were active members of The International Palm Society and The Cycad Society. Ben was survived by her three sons; Ulysses A. Young (New York, NY), Benjamin N. Young (San Francisco, CA) and Bradford E. Young (Tampa), as well as five grandsons. There will be a memorial for friends and family at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at the Marsicano-B.Marion Reed-Stowers Funeral Home, 4040 Henderson Blvd. in Tampa. The memorial will be followed at 4:00 pm by a memorial “Garden Walk” through Ben’s tropical paradise, details of which may be obtained at the funeral home.
