

Bernard “Bernie”Joseph O'Brien, age 58, passed on January 28, 2015. Through hard work, his sincerity and friendly nature, Bernie built a popular local Irish pub in the Carrollwood area, where many have become long-time patrons and more importantly great family and friends. Believing in giving back to the community and helping those in need, Bernie supported numerous local charities, such as Toys for Tots and Tampa Bay Harvest, many local youth and adult sport teams. He had an avid interest in sports, which he shared with his daughter by attending hockey and baseball games and fishing in tournaments. He was also a long-time active member and former Chairman of the Outback Bowl. Survivors include his parents Daniel and Rita O’Brien, daughter Danielle Elizabeth O’Brien, longtime partner Lynn Bates, brothers John and Dan O’Brien, sisters Della Rafferty and Kathleen Donaghy and longtime business partner and ex wife Teresa Brennan. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 2nd from 10am to 4pm at the Blount and Curry Funeral Home, 3207 W. Bearss Ave., Tampa, FL and a funeral mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 3rd at 10 am. In lieu of flowers contributions to the Moffitt Cancer Center,12902 Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612 would be appreciated.
