Carl Arnold Schroeder

Carl married his childhood sweetheart, Gloria. They were happily married for 71 years and had three children. Carl was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a good Christian, and strong in faith.

Carl worked as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service in the St. Louis, Mo. area for more than 30 years before he retired and moved to Florida with Gloria. While in the USPS Carl earned several awards including those for his achievements, performance contributions, perfect attendance, job safety, and safe driving. As a young man, Carl served in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge. He also excelled at many sports throughout his life including tennis, waterskiing, horseshoes, baseball, bowling, ping pong, and cork ball, a unique game that originated in St. Louis, Mo. in the 1890’s. During retirement, Carl spent his time gardening and playing tennis as an active member of a local Tampa, FL. tennis league.

Carl had an outgoing magnetic personality to which people were drawn and he will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.

Memorial services in Florida for Carl are being planned (date TBD) and will be held at Blount and Curry Funeral Home, 3207 West Bearss Ave., Tampa, FL. 33618 with a Pastor (TBD) from a local Lutheran Church officiating. Arrangements are by Blount and Curry Funeral Home. For the Memorial in Florida, the family requests that everyone please wear face masks and be mindful of following social distancing.

Memorial services in Missouri are also being planned. Interment will be arranged in the future. The family requests that everyone please wear face masks and be mindful of following social distancing guidelines, unless guidelines are lifted or not applicable at the time of the services.
