Chris is survived by his loving wife, Kay Marshall; son, Matt (Shannon) Marshall; granddaughters, Madison and Olivia Marshall; special ‘family’ including, Tom (Cheryl) Donaldson, Stacie (Lexi and Bryanna) Terrell, The Wolf Family, Timmy Siemer, and many other special people Chris loved dearly.
After attending and graduating Grove City High School with Kay, Chris enlisted in the United States Navy and had a distinguished career including earning his Purple Heart. Later, Chris would graduate from the Columbus State Culinary program in Columbus, Ohio. Here he found his love of all food. Chris worked in and managed several dining establishments in Columbus before opening his own restaurant, Chris’ (later changed to Marshall’s Restaurant). Upon retiring from the restaurant industry, Chris and Kay enjoyed many travels with friends and family. Chris found much joy spending time with those he loved dearly while taking trips to other countries, cruises with his granddaughters, many visits to Disney, and traveling back to Ohio to see family and friends there.
Chris appreciated a good cigar while talking for hours with friends; in his younger years he also enjoyed the wind in his hair while going on long rides on his Harley with his son Matt. Chris also adored all of his dogs named Brutus and his little lady, Bess. He also took great pride in his Country, loved his long talks with Madison, was always happy to send the girls up on endless runs for Twistee Treat ice cream, took great pleasure in finding home repair projects for Matt to do when he was in town visiting, savored late night food runs when Matt and/or Timmy stopped down, wallowed in making sure his truck was ALWAYS clean, made so many memories teasing the girls with his “pinchers” and so much more.
Before the passing of his son, Kurt, Chris also loved spending as much time as he could taking Kurt to WWE matches, grabbing some Mexican food, going to the latest movie, taking a special trip to New York, eating a delicious prime rib, snacking on cheese balls, and a few nights out drinking. Chris and Kurt had a unique bond that will now continue in Heaven.
Chris is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ruth Marshall; daughter, Shana Marshall; son, Kurt Marshall; and very special friend, Kevin Miles.
In lieu of flowers, a kind donation can be made in Chris Marshall’s memory to your Vietnam Veterans of America local chapter, Vietnam Veterans of America (vva.org).
Military Honors will take place at 10:30am on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
