Daisy grew up in Ybor City and graduated from Hillsborough High School, class of 1950. Shortly after high school, she married “the love of her life” Peter and began what she felt to be her greatest chapter in her life, raising a family, first with her son Peter and then her daughter Clarice. Even as she raised her family, she found time to attend the University of South Florida, where she earned her degree in Education. She also attended the University of Tampa in her quest for a master’s degree in administration and supervision. After receiving her degrees, she taught Spanish at Chamberlain High School and then later at Jefferson High School. As her life progressed, she extended her life force and love to her grandchildren, Madison and Elliott. The ‘piece de resistance’ at the end of her life was the final gift of her two “great” grand children, her namesake Daisy, and shortly later Mia. Besides all these great accomplishments, she loved reading, painting, gardening, crocheting, knitting, playing Spider Poker on her iPad, and her church. She lived out the last 3 years of her life with new friends and staff, that loved her at Brookdale Bayshore Senior Living.
She is preceded in death by her husband Peter Parrado, her father Jose de la Vina, and her mother Fidelia Cernuda de la Vina. Survivors include her son Peter J. Parrado (Deborah), and daughter Clarice McAllister (Earl); Grandchildren include Madison Camacho (Mac) and Elliott McAllister; Great grandchildren include Daisy McAllister and Mia Camacho.
Visitation begins at 1 p.m., Sunday, March 20th, at Blount and Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, with the Service to follow at 2 p.m., followed by Entombment, and a gathering at the home of her daughter Clarice for those that may wish to come.
