Born on March 20, 1949, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Dave lived a life marked by laughter, love and an unwavering devotion to his family. His unmistakable laugh and boundless storytelling- often long-winded and always entertaining-were hallmarks of his personality. He never met a stranger and had a gift for making people feel welcome wherever he went. Dave proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1973. His years in service reflected his deep sense of duty and commitment to his country. He is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy P. Naylor, of the home; daughter Carrie Ann (Naylor) Macy and husband Robert; sons Joseph R. Pennington and wife Michelle; Stephan Naylor and wife Amy; Jerry Pennington and Jacob Pennington and bonus daughter Charnette Murphy and husband Robert. Dave was a proud grandfather to Richard (Becca), James (Anjela) Charlie, Bryce (McKenzie), Baleigh, Zachary, Jackson and Hailey. He also leaves behind great grandchildren Maureen, Faith and Grace. Dave was predeceased by his parents James and Ava Naylor; his brother Robert Naylor; and sister Beatrice Hutchinson. A passionate fan of NASCAR and baseball, Dave could often be found cheering from the sidelines or stands at gymnastics meets of any event involving his children or grandchildren, wherever they were - on the field, mat or track- he was there, too. His presence was a constant source of encouragement and pride for those he loved most. Known for being loving and funny- most of the time- Dave brought joy into every room he entered. His legacy lives on in the stories he told ( and retold), the laughter he inspired, and the deep bonds he formed with those around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
