Dennis C. Harris

Dennis C. Harris, age 74, of Plant City, Florida passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021. He was born on February 27, 1947, in Tampa, Florida to Henry and Ethel Harris and is predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters and 1 grandchild. Dennis was 1 of 9 children: David, Jerry, Ray, Tommy, Larry, Jewell, Lois, and Audrey.

He is survived by his 2 sons, Edward (Elizabeth) and Andy (Jenn) who both reside in South Carolina and 1 daughter Chelsey Wheeler (Joseph) who resides in Plant City. He is also survived by 2 stepdaughters, Melissa Cantu (Paul) and Samantha Green and 1 stepson, Clint Green (Christel) along with 22 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren as well as 1 sister, Lois Williams and 2 brothers Ray (Rachel) and Larry (Audrey).

Dennis proudly served in the US Army from 1964 until 1977 where he served 3 tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal among many others throughout his career. After leaving the army, he continued his government service as a US Postal Service Carrier until he retired in 2006.

Dennis loved sports including baseball (Rays), football (Buccaneers), and Nascar (Dale Earnhardt). He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and one of his favorite activities was taking them for ice cream, where he favored vanilla and butter pecan.

He will be greatly missed by his entire family.
