Felix was born March 6, 1947, in Santurce, Puerto Rico. He was the son Miguel Ocasio and Guillermina (Lopez) Ocasio. He was raised in the Bronx NY until his family moved to Bridgeport during his teen years then Milford, CT.
Felix graduated from Bassick High School in Bridgeport, CT in 1964.
Felix enlisted in the Marines in 1965, and served until honorably discharged in 1967. He served in Vietnam. He was a proud Marine all his life.
Felix married Maria (Camacho) Ocasio on February 8, 1967, at St Ambrose Church in Bridgeport, CT. They were married for 56 years. Felix was in love with his beautiful wife Maria since they met in 1964, when he was 17 and she was 16. Felix and Maria lived in Bridgeport, CT and Monroe, CT until they moved to Florida.
After serving in Vietnam, Felix worked as a Plumber’s Apprentice at New Haven Regional Water Company until 1980 when he was disabled.
Felix especially loved his cheesecake, surfing the internet, his artwork, and spending time with his family. He was as he liked to put it, a Jack of all Trades, Master to none.
Felix had always been known by the name of Philip until he moved to Florida in 1999. At that time, he “reclaimed” his birth first name and middle name of “Felix Guillermo.” People who met in Florida were confused by the Felix/Philip reference as everyone else called him Philip.
Felix was a classic jokester, who laughed at his jokes before he could even get them out. And, don’t forget his impressions of Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, and Goofy.
