Giovanna Irma Galassi Colombo Barowski, 99, of Brandon, Florida peacefully passed away at home on Monday, June 20, 2022. Giovanna was born September 26, 1922 in Bangkok, Thailand to Fortunato Galassi and Stefany "Fanny" Nissle Galassi.
Giovanna enjoyed traveling and had family throughout the world.
She was an executive secretary for the Italian Embassy and later for Shell Oil Company.
She was a devout Catholic, beloved wife, blessed mother of 7 children.
Giovanna is preceded in death by her husband Edward, and eldest son Alberto Colombo.
She is survived by her children; Irma Colombo Burroughs, Norma Colombo Hansen, Mark Barowski (Belinda), Linda Barowski Wingert (Kenny), Michael Barowski (Kelly), Karl Barowski (Joey), daughter-in-law Carol Colombo, 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610. A funeral mass will be celebrated 1:30 p.m., Friday, June 24, 2022 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 1711 E 11th Ave, Tampa, FL 33610. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association.
