Gladys Teresa de Jesus Padro Cabrerizo Alonso of Tampa, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 in her home surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
She was born to Mercedes Cabrerizo and Santiago Padro on June 15, 1931. During her studies as a home economics teacher, she met her husband, Jose L. Alonso. Together, they had two children, Jose and Robert. A strong woman throughout life, she was 90 years old. In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother, Gladys also loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family, and in her garden, where she maintained her flowers and plants. She was a skilled seamstress and filled her home with hand-painted porcelain and ceramic figurines. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.
She is survived by many loving individuals, including her husband, Jose; son, Robert (Ana); grandchildren Gabriella, Angelina and Jackson; sisters, Maria Caridad Padro Cabrerizo Holm, Irma de la Caridad Padro Cabrerizo; nieces, nephews, many cousins and extended family.
Gladys joins her son, Jose L. Alonso, Jr.; brother, Santiago Padro Cabrerizo; and both her parents in Heaven.
A celebration of life for Gladys will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida. An inurnment will follow in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, Tampa, Florida.The family will receive friends Sunday from 10:30-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
