

Gordon F. Anderson and Lesslie E. Bledsoe Anderson. He died peacefully in his sleep at Brooks-
Howell Home in Asheville, NC where he resided since 2016.
Fletcher was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Tampa, FL. He received his A.B.
from Asbury College (now University) in Wilmore, Kentucky and his M.Div. from Candler School
of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta. Fletcher received his S.T.M from Union Theological
Seminary in New York City.
Fletcher was a lifelong missionary and pastor in the Methodist Church and subsequent United
Methodist Church. He served in Argentina, Peru, Mexico and Cuba. For many years he was
accompanied by his wife Ada Maria Cignoni Anderson, of Buenos Aires, Argentina who
preceded him in death in 1997.
In the Florida Conference of the UMC Fletcher served congregations in Monroe, Dade and
Broward Counties. In Key West he was pastor of Ley Memorial and El Salvador United
Methodist Churches from 1978-1982.
From 1999 on Fletcher made regular visits to Cuba where he served in theological education
and participated in the life and work of the Methodist Church in Cuba (IMECU).
Fletcher is survived by his foster family in Peru that consists of foster son Juan Pedro Antonio
Pablo Cancheres and Juan's five children and numerous grandchildren. Likewise, Fletcher is
survived by a number of cousins here in the United States.
Fletcher's funeral service and burial are planned for Friday, February 16 at 2 p.m. at Blount and
Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33610.
