LAMB, Irene Gloria (nee Fernandez), 87, went to her heavenly reward on June 17, 2014. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Irene was a talented cook and avid traveler. Irene was born in Tampa, Florida, to Armando Fernandez and his wife Carmen (nee Baez). Irene grew up in the family home in Tampa Heights and graduated from Jefferson High School. During World War II she moved with her family to New York City to support her sister’s pursuit of a singing career. While in New York she attended The City College of New York and worked for naval architects Gibbs and Cox drafting plans for naval ships in support of the war effort. After returning to Tampa, she met her future husband Jean and they were married on October 26, 1952. They raised two sons, Bruce and Keith, who both reside in Tampa. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Alma Phillips. She is survived by her husband Jean, sons Bruce Lamb and Keith Lamb, and granddaughter Alison Lamb. The family will be greeting visitors on Sunday June 22, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Avenue.
