

He was a military graduate and served in the United States Army from February 1, 1968 until January 29, 1971. James was employed for the New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA), retiring in 1992. He enjoyed fishing, loved nature and his favorite sports team was the New York Mets.
James McArthur Coleman departed this life on Saturday, September 10, 2022, in Brandon, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Coleman, mother, Alice Coleman, brothers, Joseph and Terence “Miffy” Coleman, aunts, Josephine Haslip and Janice Taylor and granddaughter, Saijah Coleman.
He leaves to cherish his memories…
His wife of 54 years: Linda Coleman;
Sons: Ilee Lamar Coleman, Sr. and Jomar Sharif Coleman;
Daughters: Akeeta Ward, Tamika Ward and Crystal Ward;
Daughter-in-law: Takoma Coleman;
Brothers: Thomas Coleman and Riviera Coleman;
Sisters: Erma Coleman and Sandra Coleman;
Grandchildren: Nadja Coleman, Ilee Coleman, Jr. and Jomar Coleman, Jr.;
And a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.
A visitation for James will be held Sunday, September 18, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33610, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m.
