

James “Jim” William Emerson, age 89, passed away on December 6, 2025 in Tampa FL. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and cherished member of his community, he was born June 24, 1936 in Orange, New Jersey.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Judith: his older sister Marilyn Griffin and his parents Helen and Charles Emerson.
Jim is survived by sons Dean (Jennifer) and Thomas (Christina), granddaughter Emily, great-grandson Trenton Emerson and step-grandson Zak Daughtry.
Jim received a degree in Accounting at the University of South Florida after proudly serving eight years in the United States Air Force. In August 1963, Jim married the love of his life, Judith Ann where together they built a family rooted in love, respect, and steadfast support.
He went on to build a distinguished career in the banking industry where he was known for his professionalism, high-intelligence, and reliability to those around him. He later continued his public service with the Hillsborough County court system, where he worked faithfully until his retirement.
Jim found solitude in his personal sanctuary but enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He was a devoted orchid grower, a passionate stamp and coin collector, and an enthusiastic supporter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Florida Gators. His interests reflected his curiosity, patience, and appreciation for both beauty and history.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held in January 2026, with details to follow. Family and friends will gather to honor a life well lived and a man deeply loved.
A graveside service will be held in July 2026 at New Garden Cemetery in Garden, Michigan.
