

Requiem Mass for the repose of the soul of Mr. James E. Fernandez, Tampa, FL will be held Saturday at 1 pm at Incarnation Catholic Church on Webb Rd., Tampa. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. A native of Tampa, FL, he is survived by his wife, Sylvia, of 63 years; six children, Diana Rumpf, Shirley Sands, Karen Mayhew, James E. Fernandez II, David Fernandez, and Damon Fernandez; son-in-law Tim Mayhew, daughters-in-law, Erin Fernandez and Rhoda Fernandez; nephews Bruce and Brian Fernandez; niece, Andrea; sixteen grandchildren, Katie, Sicily, and David Rumpf; Jennifer Rader, TJ Sands,Tara Carroll, Chrissy Avila, Sean Paul Fernandez, Brittney Padilla, Elizabeth Fernandez, Deven Fernandez, Brianna Fernandez, Geddy Fernandez, Reagan Fernandez, Nathan and Andrew Patterson; and fourteen great grandchildren Kayla and Nikki Rader; Sienna and Kiara Counts; Nya Blount ; Jacob Rumpf; Kyle and Aiden Rader; Bella, JJ, and Ali Carroll; Lilleigh Doyle; Xander and Alivia Avila; and Luca Padilla.
James had a full life. He was married to his high school sweetheart for 63 years. He served in the Marine Corps; was a member of the Marian Servants of Our Lady of Divine Providence House of Prayer for 25 years; family was highest priority next to his Catholic faith. He believed in family vacations (camping) as often as possible with both children and grandchildren. He was famous for his ‘Poppycakes’ (pancakes). His hobbies and interests were his very large family but also he loved working in his yard, cars and driving, and his music.
The family will receive friends directly after interment at their residence from 3:00-6:00.
