Jerry was born in Warner Robins, Georgia to George and Peggy West on January 22, 1965.
Jerry is survived by his wife and best friend, Colleen. Children, Cassie Grissom (Jeff), Hunter West (Alexandra), Brianna Miller (Peter), and Ryan Allen. Seven grandchildren: Denver, Vivienne, Noah, Christian, Isaiah, Ella Ruth, and Olivia; his father, George West (Janice Ivey); his mother, Peggy West (deceased); his sisters, Teresa Snowden (Randy), Sherri Rogers (Steve), Merri Babbitt (Ronnie), and Kerri Rainey (Shannon); Uncle to many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law of Denise Bamber (Bill).
Jerry was a man whose heart was as big as his sense of humor, and whose punchlines were as legendary as his bear hugs. If you were fortunate enough to know him, you probably still have a nickname he gave you, a joke he told you, or a lesson he taught you- likely all three, delivered in the same conversation. He was the kind of man who led with quiet strength and showed his love not just in his words. He listened with patience, gave advice with wisdom and loved with his whole heart.
Jerry was the most remarkable man. He was an amazing husband who was humble and loved life. He always put God first in everything he did. He enjoyed using his God given talents to better everyone’s life and found joy in his work and home remodeling projects. He was not only the best dad, but also the most loving, silly and endlessly devoted Poppy to his seven grandchildren, who adored him. He was the kind of man who gave selflessly, not just of his time or energy, but of his entire being. Jerry shared a beautiful life and a deep love with his wife. We will miss him every day, but we carry him with us- in our hearts, in our stories, and in the love we share with others.
The family would like to invite family and friends to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 12, at 4:00 p.m. The Celebration will be held at the Curtis Event Center, 2050 Watson Blvd., Warner Robins, GA, 31093. Dinner will be provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you share a joke, tell a funny story, or do something that would have made Jerry laugh. This is how he would have wanted to be remembered: smiling, laughing, and surrounded by love.
