Jimmie's family moved around a lot because his dad worked on tugboats and barges. At the age of 14 he began washing dishes on the dredges at Hendry Corporation and began building his strong work ethic. He proudly joined the US Navy after graduating high school. After the Navy he went back to work at the same company where he had started out washing dishes and remained with Hendry Corp for 46 years.
Throughout his life he accomplished many things. He played football, baseball and was in the band in high school. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, three stars, China Service Medal as well as the Good Conduct Medal.
While Jimmie mastered just about anything he put mind to, the one thing he would most want to be remembered for was his love of our Savior, Jesus Christ. John 3:16 was his favorite scripture. In closing Jimmie would have wanted everybody to know and remember him for one thing and one thing only - that he was a born again Christian through the shed blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Flowers may be sent to the Blount and Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa, FL 33610.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.gardenofmemoriestampa.com for the Crowder family.
