

HERON, John Alexander, passed away at the age of 90 on Sunday, June 7, 2015. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 60 years, Amy; his daughters, Linda and Johannah; his son, Keizo (John) and Keizo’s (John’s) wife, Fusako. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Jennifer, Arisa and Marisa, as well as his grandson, Yujin, and their respective spouses, Steve, Ken, Toshiyuki, and Lisa. His great-grandchildren include Hannah, Hibiki, Haru, Kai, Sara, Miyu, Ema and Lena. He was born on December 3, 1924, spending his childhood in Uruguay, and then became a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was an avid lover of animals, and a skilled artist and craftsman. His hobbies included woodworking, metalworking, and various other arts and crafts, but he mostly enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and pets, whom he loved dearly. He also enjoyed many decades of activities surrounding his role as a Master Mason. A service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Blount & Curry Funeral Home’s Carrollwood Chapel located at 3207 W. Bearss Ave. in Tampa, with visitation taking place at 10:30 a.m. Friends and family are invited to gather at the house of Steve and Jennifer Rakita upon return from Myrtle Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
