STRAIN, John F., Lieutenant Colonel, USAF (Retired), 88, passed away on August 1, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia and youngest child, Paul. He is survived by son, Michael; two daughters, Suzanne and Karen; sister, Betty Silcox; along with numerous other relatives. He graduated from the University of Iowa, where he met his soul mate of 61 years, Georgia. His tenure in the Air Force as a Navigator provided him the opportunity to experience the World. After each flight, family and neighbors were treated to souvenirs of his travels. A self-made man, he shunned the corporate world and excelled in his many endeavors. His and Georgia’s last business, Tall Pines Aviary’s, was recognized throughout the country as one of the foremost breeders of exotic birds.
