Born in Peoria, Illinois, on September 8, 1967, Karen was the daughter of James “Pops” Killeen and Barbara “Barby” Killeen. She grew up in a lively home with six siblings—Tim, Kathy, Kelly, Pat, Mary (her identical twin), and Dan—and from a young age, she knew how to command a room with her infectious energy and unmatched sense of humor.
Karen married the love of her life, Brett Anderson, on March 1, 1997. Together, they raised two children, Kamryn and Timmy, who were her greatest joy. She had a deep devotion to her family, always checking in on her kids, husband, and twin sister with love, encouragement, and humor.
She worked at CIC Credit, where she was more than a coworker—she was adored for her warmth, her spark, and the way she brightened even the dullest day.
Karen had a flair for fun and fashion, especially when it involved anything cheetah print. She never missed a nail appointment, could often be found lounging in her pink robe, or bundled up in her beloved black “parka” (even when it was 80 degrees outside). Her favorite saying—“I can’t”—somehow captured both her hilarity and her dramatic charm.
She lived for family brunches, Sunday Fundays, trying new restaurants, laying out at the pool, and taking naps when she wasn’t busy being the life of the party. She always had a smile on her face and could lift anyone’s spirits with a single sentence. Karen had the rare ability to make everyone feel seen, valued, and loved.
She is survived by her husband, Brett; her children, Kamryn and Timmy; her mother, Barbara; and her siblings—Kelly, Pat, Mary, and Dan. She was preceded in death by her father, James, her brother, Tim, and her sister, Kathy.
To know Karen was to love her—and to laugh with her. Her love, style, and spirit will never be forgotten.
