Katherine LoRe Estrada

Katherine LoRe Estrada, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and family matriarch, was born in 1929 in the vibrant community of Ybor City, Florida. The daughter of Sicilian immigrants Baldasaro LoRe and Josephine Napoli Guinta, Katherine grew up embracing her heritage and went on to become the family historian, preserving the stories and spirit of Ybor City for future generations.

In 1950, Katherine married, Francisco “Paco” Estrada. Together, they made their home in Cuba until 1963, when they courageously fled to escape communism, returning to Tampa to build a life rooted in resilience, God, and family. For over 30 years, Katherine and Paco ran La Loma Market and Granada Meat Market, which became cherished gathering places in the community.

Katherine is preceded in death by her husband, Paco; her sister, Antoinette Ysada; and her parents. She leaves behind her devoted son, Tony Estrada, with whom she shared a profound bond. His dedication and noble care brought her peace and comfort in her final days, embodying the love and values she instilled in him. Equally devoted was her daughter-in-law, Rosa Estrada, whom Katherine lovingly called her “guardian angel,” as well as her sister Violet Muscaglione and her husband, Sam. Katherine’s legacy lives on in her grandchildren: Anthony F. Estrada, USAF; Janna Cantero Peña and her husband, Christian; and Arnaldo Cantero and his wife, Dina.

Katherine’s life was a testament to resilience, love, faith, and strength. She will be dearly missed, as will her stories, but she will always be remembered in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.

A visitation for Katherine will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Blount&Curry Funeral Home @ Garden of Memories, 4207 E LAKE AVE, TAMPA, FL 33610. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, November 6, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 4207 E LAKE AVE, TAMPA, FL 33610. A committal will occur Wednesday, November 6, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, 4202 E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610.
