Kathy Gruden, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on May 12, 2023 in Lutz.

Kathy was born in Sandusky, Ohio to Franklin and Marie Kingseed on May 11, 1938. She attended Sandusky Highschool in Sandusky, Ohio. On October 17, 1959 she married Jim in Angola, Indiana. Kathy graduated from Heidelberg College. Kathy worked as a teacher for 25 years, where she touched the lives of so many of her students, many of which still send her letters. She has a classroom dedicated to her at Berkley Prep, and has had the United States flag flown in her honor for her impact in education. Kathy was devoted to her family, and loved being involved in all of her kid’s activities, on and off the field. This continued with her grandchildren. She was involved in Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church for many years.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents Franklin and Marie.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Jim; sons: Dr. James, Jon (Cindy) and Jay (Sherri); Grandkids: Jay Jr. (Jeanette), Jon “Duece” Jr., Joey (Megan), Michael, Jack, Jayson; Great grandchildren: Trey and Jacob; Sister Karen Leber, niece, Kathy; nephew, Eric; along with many loving friends.

The family will be have a private celebration of life to honor Kathy’s legacy.
