February 22, 1946, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Larry was the beloved son of Samuel Foster
Bennett and Maggie Bell Wells, both of whom preceded him in death. Larry was also preceded
in death by his cherished wife, Marion Louise Bennett. He is lovingly remembered by his
daughters, Jennifer Bennett-Brownrigg and Aubree Taylor Bennett and his grandson Ethan.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, an
experience that sparked his love of travel especially remembering fondly his time journeying
through Germany. After returning home, Larry devoted more than 30 years as an industrial
engineer for Anchor Glass, where his diligence, enthusiasm for detail, and love for mathematics
left a lasting impression on his colleagues. True to his analytical nature, Larry was never far from
his trusty spreadsheets, always eager to organize and improve.
Outside his career, Larry found immense joy riding his Harley and sipping on his beloved
Tennessee whisky. An ardent Buccaneers fan Larry enjoyed cheering on on the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers when they played, and was always a huge Mike Alstot fan. Larry enjoyed traveling
back to Tennessee ensuring that he kept close bonds with friends and family. It was in the hills
of Tennessee that he found friendship and comfort while sipping on Tennessee whiskey and
telling the tallest of tales with his beloved cousin John Bennett, Marshall Bennett and Grant
Bennett. In later years, he treasured time spent with his devoted neighbors, Sherry and Marisa,
Dennis and Cathy, John and Margaret, as well as Paul and Janet who became like family.
Those who knew Larry will remember him for his enormous heart, his pride in being a father
and granddad, and his unwavering work ethic. His laughter, friendship, and love of life lit up
every room he entered.
Remembered Joy
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free!
I follow the plan God laid for me…
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
Be not burdened with tears of sorrow,
Enjoy the sunshine of the morrow.
