

Upon graduating from H.B. Plant High School, Tampa, Florida in 1960, Leroy joined the United States Air Force. After his honorable discharge, he attended Tampa’s Police Academy and became a Police Officer in 1965. He worked for 24 years and advanced through the ranks fulfilling one of his proudest accomplishments, his retirement as a City of Tampa Police Captain in 1989. As a devoted and active Catholic he served as an altar boy, Eucharistic minister and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was deeply fond of the time he spent as a Coordinator for the Ministry of the Sick.
Leroy was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Vohdin; mother, Helen Bastry Vohdin. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia Vohdin; daughter, Karen Douglas and husband, Larry Douglas; son, Leroy Vohdin and wife, Jennifer Vohdin; sister, Margaret Carr; brother, Raymond Vohdin; and many other loved ones.

A Catholic Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories. Interment to follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Service at the Funeral Home.
