Jane was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma in 1935. She grew up in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She attended Oklahoma State University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business. She was crowned OSU Business Queen. She was a 1955 initiate of the Delta Gamma chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She met the love of her life, Bob, while attending OSU. She was the Sweetheart of Sigma Chi, Bob’s fraternity at OSU. They married in 1958 and began their life together in the Air Force. Jane helped Bob study his way through pilot training. She was a very supportive military wife, moving their family to several bases including overseas.
Jane got her real estate license and worked in several offices as an administrator. Bob and Jane’s final move was to Tampa, Florida. They had a fun group of military friends that shared lots of laughs, good meals and great times together. Their neighbors were like family.
They were members of Village Presbyterian Church in Carrollwood for close to 30 years. Jane was very involved in the church and enjoyed her time as a deacon, while serving on many committees. She was also a member and leader of Bible Study Fellowship for over 20 years.
Jane got her hair done weekly at the same salon, which is best described as a scene straight out of the movie Steel Magnolias. Her daughters, Kirsten and Kelly, have wonderful memories with her. She always called them “Sweetheart.” She loved going to lunch and shopping with her girls. Buying shoes was her favorite. Jane absolutely adored spending time with her grandchildren and was called Grandmommy. They brought so much joy to her life and she was so proud of each grandchild. She enjoyed feeding the ducks with them on the lake in their backyard. We will forever cherish the Christmas stockings she made for them. She loved Christmas time and having everyone home to celebrate her Christmas Eve birthday.
Jane enjoyed doing puzzles on their back patio while eating her favorite snack, Fritos, and sipping on a Coke. For years, we would take her to see the peacocks that roamed freely in a nearby neighborhood. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 11am at Village Presbyterian Church. Due to COVID, we would love for you to honor Jane by watching her funeral service virtually. Please reach out to the family for private link.
