On Saturday, October 19,2024 Sister Margaret O’Brien, a Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary died peacefully under Empath Hospice care. Sister was born in Fort Pierce, FL, educated at Academy of the Holy Names in Tampa, joined the Sisters of the Holy Names in Montreal, Canada and ministered in schools and parishes throughout Florida.
Sister Margaret earned a BS degree in Education and a MS in Religious Studies from Barry University. She was awarded grants from the National Sciences foundation with studies in number theory and calculus. Sister ministered in several parishes and schools in the catholic dioceses of Florida.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Skok and nieces Christine Newman, Teresa Jung, Becky Thomas, Antoinette Smith and nephew, Michael Croft.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at the Academy of the Holy Names, 3319 Bayshore Blvd. on Saturday, November 23,2024 at 1:00 PM.
