Martha Delmont Springston

Born on November 24, 1923 in Palestine, West Virginia, she was 99 years old. Martha is survived by daughters Carole Bonham, Jacqueline Springston-Baker, son Karl Springston, and his wife Ramie all of Tampa and daughter-in-law, Laura Springston. Grandchildren Marcy (Mike) Taylor, Debi Saunders, Kris (Robbie) Ruis, Michelle (Mike) de Guzman, Diane (Chris) Tucknies, Bobby Springston, Joanna (Scott) Fuller, Matthew (Mai) Baker, Robby Springston, Hailey Springston, 20 Great Grandchildren, 26 Great-great Grandchildren, a multitude of nieces and nephews and other loving family members and dear friends. She was the most loving, caring and kind-hearted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, beloved by all.

Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert (Bob) F. Springston (2009), son Thomas M. Springston (2020), her parents James C. Lee and Ruby Pearl (Board) Lee of Elizabeth, WV, and her three brothers James, Robert & Thomas Lee. Martha was the last of her generation for both her Lee and Springston families.

Martha met her husband Robert at a dance in Parkersburg, WV during the Thanksgiving holidays in 1942; they were married on April 18, 1943. Together they raised their four children while traveling from base to base during Bob’s years as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, moving to Tampa when he retired in 1968.

A visitation for Martha will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Blount & Curry FH-Carrollwood, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618, followed by Interment at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL as she joins her husband, Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM.
