Known to loved ones and friends as Josine, she touched the lives of all she met with her courage, kindness, independence, generosity, faith, and a warm, welcoming heart. Josine was a devoted mother to four daughters and a grandmother to 11 beloved grandchildren, her greatest pride and joy.
Josine was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 7, 1940 to Oscar Joseph and Mary Annette (Keller) Grawcock; Josine took great pride in being a twin. Josine named her first-born daughter after her twin sister, Rejean Marie.
Growing up in Indianapolis, Josine attended St. Joan of Arc Catholic School and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School. She was a 1958 graduate of Saint Agnes Academy High School. During the 1950s, Josine worked at William H. Block Company department store and was active in the Civic Theatre in Indianapolis. Josine remained involved in theater throughout her life, even performing in and helping to stage plays in her senior community Rocky Creek Village in Tampa where she lived during her final years.
Josine was married to Ronald Ray Zimmer and they had four daughters. In 1973, Josine married Jack McClanahan. They enjoyed spending family time with Jack's five children and extended family in Indianapolis. Josine's greatest pride and joy were her 4 daughters and her 11 grandchildren.
Prior to living in Tampa, Josine lived in Naples, Florida, where she operated her own child-care referral business, Kiddie Kare Kompany. In Tampa, Josine was an active member in the Rocky Creek Community where she participated in many community events and was an active volunteer in the community chapel and assisted living facility.
Josine enjoyed travelling to see new sights and to visit family and friends. Josine also loved the holidays and enjoyed baking bread, cookies, and fudge to share with family and friends. She passed the love of baking on to her four daughters. Most of all Josine was a wonderful mother. She treasured time spent with her grandchildren: having tea parties, attending special school/sporting events, and holiday decorating/baking as well as countless family celebrations.
Preceding her in death were her parents and twin sister-Rejean Marie, sister-Josette Grawcock Concannon, stepfather-Lloyd A. (Hap) Hiott, granddaughter-Regine Marie Gordon, and second husband-Jack. McClanahan. Josine is survived by sisters- Jocille Beaver (Russell), Jonita Shields (Ronald), Joclare Moody (Michael); children-Regine Zimmer Gordon, Rhonda Figueroa (Tony), Jennifer Katz (John), and Julie Romaine; and grandchildren-Scott Gordon, Kristina Pecar (Travis), Stephanie Figueroa, Samantha Katz, Victoria Romaine, Mary Figueroa, Jennifer Figueroa, Emily Katz, Zachary Figueroa, and David Gordon.
