Maxie was born in Wimauma, FL and lived
most of his life in Tampa, FL, spending the last
42 years under the loving care of his sister
Linda. He was preceded in death by his parents,
Jasper H. Zipperer and Jewell E. Taylor
Zipperer; his sister, Alma Jackson; his brothers,
Homer Zipperer and Graden Zipperer. Maxie is
survived by his sister, Linda Alpizar, 9 nieces &
nephews, their spouses, and numerous greatnieces
and great-nephews. Maxie was a long
time member of Temple Crest Baptist Church,
where he faithfully occupied the back row pew
so he could watch any cars that passed by along
the street through the glass doors.
Maxie was a special soul that spread joy and
love to everyone he ever encountered. He
inspired loyalty and devotion from family and
friends and he never met a stranger. Maxie’s
laugh and quirky antics were infectious and
caused much happiness in those he knew and
loved, and those that knew and loved him. His tshirt
collection was extensive, but didn’t come
close to the number of toy cars and cartoon
memorabilia that lined the walls and overflowed
the shelves in his room. Maxie never left the
house without a handkerchief in his pocket or
his watch on his wrist, but was always ready to
tag along the moment he heard someone was
going anywhere.
Maxie lived a great life, no job, no worries and
no wrinkles. Although he didn’t look his age, he
was 75 years old at the time of his passing. A
Celebration of Life visitation will take place on
Friday, September 21, 2018 from 1pm-3pm at
Garden of Memories Funeral Home (4207 E.
Lake Ave) in Tampa, for both Maxie and his
sister Linda. In lieu of flowers, his family asks
that donations be made in Maxie’s honor to the
Melech Hospice House of Temple Terrace, FL.
