Necitas Pineda, 90, peacefully passed away on January 19, 2022, surrounded by family at home in Land O’ Lakes, Florida. She was the widow of Ernesto Pineda. They shared 57 years together. Necitas was born on April 3, 1931 in the Philippines. She graduated from Southern Islands Hospital School of Nursing with her nursing degree. After moving from the Philippines to Illinois in 1969, she worked at Cook County Hospital as a night shift nurse and ultimately retired from the Hines VA Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially watching sports with her grandchildren and spending time with her great-grandchildren. She was the heart of the family and was her happiest when everyone was all together. She will be remembered for her love, her strength, and her Filipino cuisine.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ernesto Pineda, her daughter Stella Caro, and her son-in-law Mike Jennings. She is survived by her children Josephine Jennings, Glenn (Rita) Pineda, and Loretta (Tom) Ward, her grandchildren Lisa (Andrew), Stephanie (Matt), Ryan, Christopher, Maricel, Kristina (Martin), Matthew, Josh, and Sean, and her great-grandchildren Elliott, Lilly, Noelle, Isaiah, and Arya.
A memorial mass for family and friends will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Sienna-St. Lucy Church located at 38 N. Austin Blvd., Oak Park, Illinois 60302. Private interment of ashes for immediate family to follow after the mass.
