Collins, Nellie Ruth , 94, of Tampa, Florida passed away peacefully the morning of August 1, 2023. She was a true matriarch with unconditional love for her family and a force to be reckoned with at any age. She was a woman of many talents and an inspiration.
In retirement, she enjoyed her part time jobs at the fairgrounds, working the polls during the elections, mall walking, and working in the yard. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend and will missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
Nellie is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Ed Collins, and their son Jim Collins (Petra) of Tampa; sisters, Mary Cruz (Pete) of Orlando and Sylvia Frost (Charles) of Tennessee.
Nellie is survived by her son, Steve Collins of St. Petersburg; daughter Valorie Ballentine and husband Gregg of Dawsonville, GA; granddaughters Venessa Collins, Tara Ballentine and Katie Adams (Marc) of GA; great granddaughter Harper and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, August 7, 2023 at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, 4228 E Lake Ave, Tampa, followed by a Life Celebration at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E Lake Ave, Tampa.
