

He was born in Eldorado, Il on July 15, 1936, to the late Paul & Wilma Moore, of Harrisburg, IL. He graduated from Harrisburg High School & Southern Illinois University in 1959. In 1976, he married Shirley Arcuri, of Tampa, FL. He has one son, Theodore Rex.
Rex had a 34-year career with Honeywell Space Division, working primarily in contract management positions at the Clearwater, Fl location. He was also the Chairman of Honeywell’s Credit Union Board for 10 years. In 1993, he transferred to Honeywell’s Space Operations in Glendale, AZ, as the Director of Contracts, and retired from Honeywell in 1996. After retirement, Rex & Shirley moved to Las Vegas, NV, where they lived in Del Webb’s Summerlin Sun City in northwest Las Vegas. In 2014, they moved to their current home in Sun City Center, FL.
Rex taught himself to play tennis as a teenager, and after taking lessons from a tennis pro at the age of 45, tennis became an important part of his lifestyle. He was an active member at various tennis clubs where he lived, and continued playing competitively into his 80’s. In 1999, his Sun City Summerlin tennis team won a USTA Seniors National Championship in Palm Springs, CA.
Rex is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley: son, Theodore (Kelly); grandchildren: Luke, Rory & Jonah; and sister, Beverly Pyke (John). He is preceded by his parents listed above, his brother Wayne, and sister LaVerne Aluzas, of Harrisburg, IL.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11:30 am (with visitation starting at 11:00am) at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Av., Tampa, Fl., 33610.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his honor to Hospice (Accentcare).
