Rick was born in Detroit, Michigan, on October 4, 1960, to Al and Donna (Kutchey) Sementilli. He was a graduate of Guardian Angels Catholic School and Edwin C. Denby High School in Detroit. Rick attended Saint Leo University in Florida. As a young man, Rick worked as a bartender and a certified gunsmith until he was able to get his dream job of being a police officer. He was an officer in Detroit before moving to Florida. He was hired by the City of Tampa Police Department (TPD), where he did the job he loved until retiring after 28 years of service as a detective. Rick served the Police Benevolent Association (PBA) in the capacity of Director. He also served on the board of the Fraternal Order of Police. He will be remembered fondly by his friends as “Skullman”, a great partner, a good cop, with a ridiculous sense of humor. His family will remember him as a powerful man with a big heart who loved cigars, guns, motorcycles, his Dobermans, and his family.
Rick is preceded in death by his grandparents, his father Al, and his sister Lynn.
Rick is survived by his wife, Michele, son Jason (Rosa) Sementilli, step-daughters Mindy Muste and Amanda (Brad) Wernsing, brother Randy Sementilli, his beloved mother Donna Sementilli, and four grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will take place at 2pm on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Blount and Curry Carrollwood located at 3207 W. Bearss Ave. Tampa, FL. 33618. A reception to follow.
