Bob, we had some good times. I'll nerver forget Jacht Heights, growing up, playing ball, just amazed at your daddy's collection of old license plstes. I remember the old rail road track downed from our houses, we had some good times. 

Bob, I often remember our times but for now, I'll seeyou and your family in heaved.

Today, I said my final farewell to my oldest brother, Bob.  You will be so missed and I love you dearly.  It was so nice hearing all the stories and memories today from my brother's  friends.  Thank you all for coming and sharing them with me and the rest of our family.

I am not good with words, so I want to share this poem.  

Today is full of memories of a brother laid to rest and every single one of them is filled with happiness.

For you were someone special, always such a joy to know,  and there was so much pain when it was time to let you go.

That's why this special message is sent to heaven above for the angels to take care of you and give you all my love.

Dear Kaye,
So sorry to hear the very sad news of your husband's passing.  The memories shared below from his military buddies show what a special man he was!  He was admirable!  I am glad you have family & many friends to help you get through this.

Kaye and family:  We were so sorry to hear of Bob's passing.  He was such a nice person.  We will miss his smile and kind words as he sat with you, Kaye, at Mama's Kitchen.  We will keep you all in our prayers.

So sad to hear about Bob. My last big memory about him was the parade we had in San Antonio. I pushed him through most of the parade that day. I was so proud that day for the parade and being able to help Bob. As long as one of us are alive, Bob and all his brothers will never let his memory fade.

I was also in Lt. Benedick’s Second Platoon.  Bob & I became friends during basic training.  We had some great times together.

I owe my life to Bob.  When he was wounded on June 19th, I replaced him as Lt. Benedick’s RTO.  On July 11th, most of my squad we’re killed, but I wasn’t with them.  I thanked  Bob when I visited him in 1980.

Rest In Peace old friend.  My prayers are with you and your family.

I was a replacement in the 2nd platoon, Lt. Benedicts. I knew Bob as the RTO, Radio  Operator for our platoon. I met and talked with him on his first operation after he got back from the hospital. He had scares all over his chest. Believe me he was nervous. Getting hit was theoretical for us but it was reality for Bob. He did his job. He completed the mission. I have always believed that the bravest men  in battle are those who are actually hit and continue to do their duty! He earned his Bronze Star Medal the Hard way. I salute my Brother in Arms! A Soldier of The Republic! An American Hero! It was my privilege to have fought with him.  America is blessed to have defenders of the country of his stature. All Hail Robert Allen French , Patriot! May he rest in peace amen.  

When we finally leave this life and move on to the next adventure, we take nothing with us, not even the body we spent this human experience in. There is only one thing that we can take with us, that is the love of our family and friends, that will last for eternity. I know absolutely that Bob has the love of all his Charlie Company Brothers with him. He will be in my prayers every single day.

Bob French & I have exchanged Christmas Cards every year since 1968 after we made it home from Vietnam's deadly Mekong Delta.  We were part of Lt. Jack Benedick's 2nd Platoon, Charlie Company, 4th/47th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division when it reactivated in May 1966.  There were approximately 45 of us when we arrived in Vietnam in January 1967 & by September there were 13 of us left, including Bob.  Fortunately, we 13 finished our tour of duty in January 1968 & we've all stayed good friends ever since.

Bob was seriously wounded during our biggest battle with enemy forces on June 19, 1967 as he was shot in his back right under his radio and when he was hit he let out a blood curdling scream of pain... we thought he was dead for sure.  However, when he was med-evaced out by Huey Helicopter he was still alive and we thought we would never see him again.  But alas, his surgery quickly healed and he returned to us within two months to finish his tour of duty.  That was a true testament to his sturdiness and dedication to his brothers in war.

It was sad learning of his passing of this great Old Reliable.  God Bless you Bob French.  I just know that you are in heaven embracing Lt. Jack and all of our brothers who have passed.

I had the privilege of meeting Bob when we were19 or so and trained for 6 months along side him and then served with him as part of the 9th Infantry Division in Vietnam.  I have so much respect for this man and his lovely wife Kaye. I was always excited to see Bob and his family at our many Charlie Co Reunions after Vietnam as “The French’s” were absolutely beautiful and wonderful people. Bob will be missed by many,,, his beautiful family and so many others he touched throughout life. God bless,,, heaven is a better place with Bob there.
