Rolo is always in my thoughts as a Wonderful Friend  I am Honored to know him

My dearest brother,
How it hurts my heart not to be able to be at your memorial, but I am with you in spirit as you are with me. Our brother bond was strong in life as well as in death.
We always had each others back no matter how hard our childhood could be. I will always cherish our memories that we have acquired over the years. I wish I could have said a formal goodbye, but I know in my heart that you heard my prayers. I love you, brother. Rest In Peace with the rest of our Familia. 


Though we have not seen Rollie in a very long time, circumstance and distance seem to separate many of us these days, past memories are vivid and clear.  He always had that amazing smile,  and captivated you with those wonderful stories of their scuba diving adventures around the world,  He was true and authentic in what he believed and the way he lead his life, and his love for his amazing wife, Kathy, was visible in a million little, everyday ways.  He has left us, but he has left his mark on the world through his love of family and friends, his love of life and his unwavering, unconditional faith. I see him now, walking through paradise, free of pain, free of stress, and under the loving care of God himself.  I also see him smiling . . . he is home.  Marie Duchy

Kathy, my heart felt condolences and prayers go out to you. I had the pleasure of meeting Rolando in 1987 when I moved to Tampa and we worked together. I could always depend on Rolando to do a great job and have a happy customer. As time passed we became very good friends, sharing stories of childhood, his love for scuba diving and photography as well as his kitties. Then you came into his life and I remember the sparkle in his eye when he told me about you. That sparkle grew as his love for you deepened. As I got to know you, I knew why he loved you. I remember when he invited me to your wedding and ask me if I knew anyone that could make a strawberry shortcake wedding cake. My friend, Diane, made it and as you were saying your vows, the cake became a leaning Eifel tower since it had loads of whip cream. We shared lots of laughs over that later on. Your love for Rolando was just as deep as his and you provided the care that he needed during your marriage and over the last few years.    May the memories that you have of all the things that you shared, provide you with comfort and help ease the pain of loosing him until you are together again.  He will always be loved and remembered by the people that were close to him. RIP, my friend.

Several years ago, my husband Bob & I visited Kathy and Rolando at their home in Florida.  They took us to a wonderful seafood restaurant for dinner.  We had a nice evening and it was our first and last visit with the four of us together.

We talked about family, diving, and our cat kids.  Rollie was funny and easy to to talk to, and we felt as though we had known him for a long time!

Kathy, my heart is heavy over the loss of Rolando. He was such an extraordinary man. So kind and thoughtful. I have known him my whole life! I truly enjoyed his stories from your diving trips. His photos were gorgeous. He also loved his Hurricanes, so much so that he named one of his beloved cats Hurricane. His buddy. There was one thing that he loved the most, Tabasco sauce. I will always remember his “purrs” when he would eat. But the most important thing I will remember and what he taught me was how a man should love and treat a woman. He sets the bar high!! He always had a glimmer in his eye when he would look at you. Kathy, you have been a wonderful wife and amazing over these past few years and I know the days ahead will be tough. My thoughts and prayers are with you. 

So very sorry Kathy to hear about Rolando's passing.  I only met him once but he had a way about him where I felt like I knew him from the old neighborhood.  Very warm and friendly man instantly likeable.  Monika and I will keep you both in our prayers.  


Kathy, my heart goes out to you at this time of loss.  Rolando is in the arms of the Lord now, free from pain and anguish.  I pray your memories of him will only be the good ones and that you smile again soon when you think of them.  You made many special memories together ❤

My dearest friend Kathy,  you were the most loving and caring wife.  You stood by your man in every way.  I know how much you loved him and it really showed, and he knows it too.  Though your heart breaks now the memories will bring you joy to come.

It has been an honor to meet Rolly, who has always been a fun loving and very emotional person. Whatever he did, his emotions were strong, in a good way. Me and Denise loved to hear his scuba diving stories, a hobby he shared with Kathy. We fondly remember his shark feeding trips and the amazing pictures he showed us. 
But he savored more than scuba diving, e.g. food. He loved to eat lobster, preferably in the Keys and more than just one lobster! 
American football was another one of his passions. Who else than Rolly would record the games of the Miami Hurricanes, only to watch them again in between two seasons. 
Cats, he loved his cats and one of them was named Hurricane and I assume this was his favorite cat!
His wife Kathy shared a lot of those activities with Rolly and whenever he talked about Kathy, it became obvious that she was his love of life. Kathy, our sincere condolences to you and remember that every person lives twice. First in reality and now it continues in the many memories of family and friends.

Our Uncle Rolly, a diamond in the rough! A sincere heart of gold, a loving, caring compassionate soul! A strong man not afraid to show his emotions! A realist and a dreamer mixed in one.  He was a person who cared about change and making the best of your life! He mentored me and gave me advice that I needed to hear from a “father like figure” in my life! He was more than a cousin to my mom, he was like a brother to her and MY Uncle Rolly! HE adored and loved his wife until the very end! He was a PROUD MARINE, he had a heart and soul for the aquatic world!  He was an adventurer and enjoyed his time photographing underwater!  He made a special purchase for me many years ago.  An opal heart pendant with a village engraved on the back.  I still wear it and remember him with it.  When he bought me that he was so excited, he sent it to me and told me he got it on one of his adventures and that it was a one of a kind necklace! One of a kind just like him! My prayers and hope are that he did not suffer when he gained his wings.  As a concerned family member, I pray for peace within the lives of those he loved.  It would be so nice to have closure knowing what happened to him.  What I do KNOW is that he knew he had family who loved him and enjoyed his existence! God gave each one of us who loved him a gift that is forever in our hearts and no one can take him from there! WE LOVE YOU Uncle Rolly! Thank you for always making my family feel welcome!  When our family would book our trips to Disney it was so exciting but the icing on the cake was making a trip to see our Uncle Rolly just to see that smile and feel your hugs! The memories we made with you are forever with us, I remember when we made you a meal and your favorite salsa!Eli and I were delighted to cook for you of and the joy that we brought to your face is an image we will never forget!The joy that our kids would bring to you, the smiles that you gave us when we visited with you is the way you will be remembered.  

Kathy, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your husband, Rolando.  We have talked often about him, most recently at the August EMS session.  From our discussions I knew you loved him very much and always did the best thing for him.  I hope sad times like now will give way to cherished memories and lasting thoughts.  He will always be with you Kathy, hold on to that and never let it go.

My deepest condolences to my friend Kathy and the Navarro family for their loss. I've known Rolando for several years from our church's mens ministry at Our Lady of The Rosary. It is through this ministry that I get to know men such as Rolando, who come to share their life with other men. And, when you do that you become a family and treat each other as such. We talked, we prayed, we slept and we ate together.  Rolando, is part of my family and will always be. I will always remember your contributions from the group discussions, the laughs (and there were many), the struggles, and most of all the love you have shared. I  love you, my brother. It is my honor to have known you in this world and I look forward to seeing you again in the next. Until then, please pray for me and I will pray for you.

We are both so sad to hear of Rolando passing away.  It was quite a shock for us, regardless of knowing he had had so many problems in the past few years.  He always brought a smile to my face.  I loved hearing his stories and looking at his pictures, an adventurer with a gentle soul, someone who would swim with sharks but cuddle kitties. His relationship with Kathy was so full of fun and love.  Dear Kathy - we send you our love and wish you peace.

Rolando a great co-worker. I always enjoyed working with him on projects. I knew when he was lead technician the jb was going to go smoothly. Rolando was a great person and will be deeply missed. My heart felt sympathy goes to Kathy and his family. 

My husband Don and I had the pleasure of working with Rolando which we both thoroughly enjoyed.  We used to love seeing the diving photos and listening to his stories of his and Kathy’s dive trips.  He truly enjoyed diving and loved his kitties.  He introduced Don to the Chicago style hot dog and from then on it was his favorite way of eating one. I always marveled at his enjoyment of spicy food. The hotter the better. He will be missed but always here in memories.  Jamye Parlapiano 

Rolo was a wonderful friend to work with and share time with
He was always helpful to me, making my job easy and willing to teach me ways to improve my understanding 
As we both enjoyed being cat owners, we had stories of our feline friends to share 
I have  several beautiful sea turtle photos in my home that Rolo and Kathy gave to me that they took while diving - 
he knew I volunteer on the beach doing turtle rescue 
Rolando will be missed, his cheerful heart always brightened my day 

Rolando was my favorite brother in law, the most tremendous loving uncle, remarkable godfather and our newest angel. 
My dear sister we have many fond memories of gatherings and the joy Rolando brought to us. You gave Rolando the utmost devoted care with attention during his time of need.    Please find comfort in wonderful memories of your loving marriage of over thirty years and travels.
Rolando – a kind soul of generous, caring spirit that we loved just because he was Rolando.  With a big smile Rolando was always willing to taste test a new recipe for me, especially during the football season.   My kids especially enjoyed when you both would try new scuba diving equipment in the pool for your adventures. Rolando even showed the kids how to use the regulator mouthpiece, which was beyond totally cool to them.  The DVD swimming with the sharks quest was viewed so many times it is worn out.  Rolando was gifted with the skill of photography, breath taking expert underwater photos, which he enjoyed sharing with my family, that included tales of the adventures.
As we welcome our new angel, Rolando is finally with peace of mind and was greeted by family members that have passed before.  
 My kids and I are deeply thankful and blessed to have had a special, unique Rolando to share in our lives and be part of his journey.  We carry Rolando in our hearts forever.

I'm stunned to hear this sad news and offer my sympathies to his family.  I know he loved his life in Florida.  I last saw him at his sister in law's celebration of life dinner in IN of my dear cousin Pat (Paul) Navarro.  We all go back 55 years when Rolly livd on Hohman Ave. in Hammond IN.      Rolly will always be be remembered.  RIP my friend.    Peace & comfort to his family.     

Although I haven't seen my cousin, Rolando, for many years, I have fond childhood memories when my family would visit his family in the summer. I was so much younger, but as a young girl, I was taken by his movie-star looks and his great smile. His sister Sally and I would be together, but we were always wanting to hang out with Roly and his brothers, and cousins Telo and Mela because that's where the fun was.  
May you find peace and comfort in the happy memories you have of Rolando. He was a great guy.
