

Rufus Clayton Brown Jr., 95, entered into rest March 16, 2021. He was born and raised in Tampa, Florida and graduated from Hillsborough High School. He then joined the Airforce where he taught others how to be a gunner on the war planes he also taught physical fitness to the troops.
While stationed in Rapid City, South Dakota he met his future wife, Donna Marie Cordes and were then married in Laredo, Texas on July 27, 1945. After his military service they moved back to Tampa where he went to work at Cities Service Oil Company (Citgo) as a clerk and worked his way up to terminal manager for Citgo Oil Company until he retired.
He was the Scout Master for Boy Scout Troup #218 in Tampa, Fla. During his time as a manager at Citgo Oil he organized several golf tournaments to benefit the MDA His friends and neighbors love to tell fun stories of the Good Friday Wiener Roast on his property where he allowed everyone to come and roast hotdogs and marshmallows over an open fire. He was an avid Hunter and Fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors as well as gardening.
During his retirement years he was actively involved with the American Legion Post 111, Tampa, Fla.
where he was elected as a Commander and worked many events including attending the weekly dance.
He shared a wonderful life with his loving wife, Donna who passed away on November 4, 2013 after 68 years of marriage. He leaves behind three children, Clayton Lee Brown (Gloria), Donna Lee Fore (Pat), and Rebecca Jewel Schumacher (Paul); nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
An inurnment will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2021 in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa, Florida with military honors.
