Lawson, Russel C., 92, of Tampa, FL passed away on Jan. 17,2016. Mr. Lawson was born in New Castle, PA on Oct. 17,1923. He entered the Merchant Marines during WW2 and was honorably discharged after having served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. Following the war Russ became a career Air Traffic Controller, eventually retiring as a Superintendent at the tower at O'Hare International Airport. Russ had a love of flying, golf and thoroughbred race horse ownership. Mr. Lawson is survived by sisters, June E. Horlick and Valerie A. Lawson; many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Russel was preceded in death by sister, Thelma Lawson and brothers, Dale R. and Donald F. Lawson.
