

Bostick, Shelby Nathaniel (85), Lutz, FL, Headland, AL, Alexandria, VA passed away in his sleep on March 29, 2023. He was born in Headland, AL to Bernard and Lukie Bostick on April 14, 1937. Shelby grew up in Headland, AL with his 5 siblings, where he graduated from Headland High School, he went to the University of Alabama and then Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.
In 1958, at the age of 21, Shelby became a Mason, followed by a Shriner and then on to be a Jester later in life. After college he joined the Navy in 1960 at the age of 23 in which he was given the nickname Old Man. He was a naval corpsman until 1962 and then joined the reserves. From there he moved back to Headland and worked at Holman Funeral until moving to Washington, DC to work at Chambers Funeral Home as a funeral director and embalmer in Silver Spring, MD in 1962. Then he worked at Gawler & Sons Funeral Home in Washington, DC for many years. In 1985 Shelby started selling preneed funerals for Service Corporation International where he excelled in sales and retired in 2005.
In 1970 he met and married Karen L. Bendall and had a wonderful marriage for almost 50 years.
Shelby had an extreme love for football, tending to his garden, bike riding, the stock market, Woodford Reserve, cigars and spending time with family and friends. Shelby was a devoted and loving father and grandfather, who always loved visits with his grandchildren.
Shelby is survived by his daughter, Kari Isbister (Jeffrey) of Lutz, FL.; grandchildren, Nathaniel Isbister, Gavin Isbister, and Kendall Isbister and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Karen Bostick; siblings, Thad Bostick, Lenton Bostick, Floyd Bostick, Virgina Draughon, and Jacob Bostick.
Services for Noble Shelby Bostick will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the Egypt Temple Shrine 5017 E Washington St. Tampa, FL . 33619. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, service at 2:00 pm and reception to following. All are welcome to join to celebrate this caring, sweet wonderful man.
