Violet "Vi" Schiro

Violet grew up in Jackson Heights and graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1941. After graduating, she would take the streetcar to work at Adams Magnon Jewelers in downtown Tampa where she gained a true appreciation of beautiful diamonds, fine gems, china and silver.

She met the love of her life, Nick Schiro, they married in 1947 and had two children. Together they operated Nick Schiro Produce out of their home in Seminole Heights for many years until Nick retired in 1981. Vi was the best wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family meant everything. She was a talented homemaker, an excellent cook and a fabulous baker—especially her delicious cheesecakes. She was a member of the Seminole Heights Garden Club and a member of the PTA at the schools her children attended. She would be the first to say how wonderful her life was.

Vi, born February 08, 1923, in Tampa, passed away April 29, 2023 at the age of 100, in the comfort of her home. She was the youngest of three daughters, Sue Schiro and Margaret Ferlita, born to Francesco “Frank” and Giovanna “Tina” Provenzano.

Vi is survived by her daughter Tina Fuller, son Bob Schiro (Jana), grandson Stoney Schiro (Tara), step grandson Dean Fuller (Sandy), great-grandson Max Schiro, great-granddaughter Georgia Schiro, great-granddaughter Addy Fuller and her beloved cat, Nikki.

We will miss you Nana, your beautiful heart and most of all, your companionship. We were truly blessed to have you in our lives.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Suncoast Hospice, Concierge Care, Jennifer, Maria and Marlene. The family appreciates all the care and love you gave to our mother.

Visiting hours will be 10:00am, Friday, May 12, 2023 at Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, with the service at 11:00am. Pastor Ernest Roberts officiating.
