Virginia was born in Minneapolis to Neal and Mabel Bort on August 17, 1926. She went to school at Central High School in Duluth, MN, Wheaton College in IL, and received her MA from the University of Minnesota. She married Floyd Bergman on July 3, 1959 in Duluth, Minnesota. She worked as an English Teacher for both public and private schools for several decades in Minnesota, Maryland, Florida, and South Carolina, including Westminster Academy in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Virginia is preceded in death by husband Floyd, parents Neal and Mabel Bort and twin sister Vivian Bort.
Virginia is survived by daughters Sandy Neal, Carol (Rob) Kime, and Elizabeth (David) Cuthbertson. Grandchildren are Kristen (Philip) Masincup, Julianne Kime, Chris (Rachel) Kime, Rebecca Kime, Meghan Cuthbertson, and Jonathan Cuthbertson. Virginia also has four great-grandchildren: Judah and Eliana Masincup and Eleanor and Baby-to-be-born-in-May Kime.
Virginia was kind and gracious to everyone she met and loved to serve others in any way she could. She loved reading Scripture and had her devotion time with the Lord every day. Her greatest desire was for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to know the Lord and to have the assurance, as she had, of their eternal home in Heaven. We will miss her greatly, but also know that she is whole and healed and in the presence of her Savior. We are forever grateful for the godly example and legacy that she left behind.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 PM on Monday March 1, 2021 at Idlewild Baptist Church in Lutz. Visitation with the family will be from 1-2 PM before the service.
Arrangements are by Blount and Curry Carrollwood. Virginia will be buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Pompano Beach, FL
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Virginia’s name to Idlewild Baptist Church with the notation “for the Helen Enns Memorial Library,” where Virginia loved to volunteer.
The family of Virginia wishes to extend our sincere thanks to our friends and family for their prayers and support, as well as to the wonderful people from Gulfside Hospice.
