Memorial services will take place in Heritage Hall at Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church on November 24, 2019 at 3:00pm. Bill was born 2-18-34 in Tampa to the late William A. Smith Sr. and Ida Mae Smith.
He grew up in Tampa and graduated from H.B. Plant High where he participated in many sports. He continued his education at the University of FL, where he was a great Gator fan his entire life. He served in the U.S. Army and spent 2 years in Korea. After his discharge in 1956, he began his career with Independent Life Insurance Co. where he spent 39 years and retired in 1996.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dee, his 2 daughters, Cynthia Guarino and husband Lon, and Kim Delk and husband Bruce, his grandchildren who were his life, Christopher and Nicholas Guarino and his little princess, Katie Delk. He was an avid golfer and made 2 holes in one. He attended Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church, where he served and enjoyed the fellowship of his many friends.
He will be remembered as a quiet man with an attitude that family was number one in his life. He felt he was blessed to have a family like his.
