William Edwin Swope

Swope, William Edwin, 85, passed away on April 29, 2022. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on October 25, 1936, to Edwin and Margaret Swope. He was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey Alan Swope. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gerry Swope, their daughter, Lesley Stine, her husband, Chris Stine, as well as his sister, Candy Blair and her husband, Paul Blair. He was an adored grandfather, known as “Papa”, to his three grandchildren, Christopher William Stine, Davis Michael Stine and Jessica Reese Stine (his Sunshine). Bill attended college at the University of New Mexico where he played on the golf team. He graduated from The George Washington University Law School. Thereafter, he was employed at the Department of Justice Antitrust Division ultimately becoming Director of Operations for the Antitrust Division. He then joined Jones Day as a partner in the Antitrust Division in 1979. Once he retired from the practice of law, he enjoyed relaxing, golfing and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
