

Carol Virginia Rodenbeck Glenn passed away surrounded by family, in her home, on August 12, 2023 at the age of 81. Her battle after the major stroke in January was courageous and she faced each day with a smile and wanted to hear laughter.
Carol was a caring Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, and Friend –without a doubt, her favorite name was Nannie.
Carol was born to W.C. “Papa Bill” and Margaret Rodenbeck in Detmold, Texas; she was born the youngest of 9 children.
After graduating high school she moved to Austin to attend Business School with the firm directives of her father; “Do not go talking with those soldier boys!” That may have been the only time that she did not follow her father’s directives as she “talked to,” dated, and married her beloved Soldier Boy, FD Glenn in the church in Detmold, Texas and remained married to him for over 59 years until FD passed away in 2020.
Carol was Born in Detmold… Baptized and Confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Detmold… Raised in Detmold… Lived with her older sister Lorene after Carol’s mother passed away when Carol was 9 years of age… Moved back in with her father after he remarried… Graduated in Thorndale… Moved to Austin to attend Business School… Disobeyed her Daddy’s directive… Married in Detmold… Lived in Austin with FD raising their two children until 1980… they all moved to Corpus Christi before returning back to central Texas in 2000… Taylor is where she lived her remaining years, placing her close to her brothers and sisters.
Carol is survived by - daughter- Connie Parks and husband Michael of Taylor, son – Michael Glenn and his wife Ann of Thorndale; Carol was also blessed with four grandchildren, Ross (and Holly) Parks, Jennifer (and Nate) Strowmatt, Dr. Courtney Glenn Melde (and Caleb Melde) and John (and Christina) Glenn – eight great-grandchildren, Tesslynn Dee Strowmatt, Walker Strowmatt, Hailey Parks, Lawson Parks, Tucker Glenn, Harper Melde, Milam Melde, and Maddox Melde along with two sisters – Margaret “Mag” Thaler of Bartlett and Polly Miller of Austin… and a Sister-n-law Ann Rodenbeck of Thorndale… along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband - FD Glenn, parents - WC “Papa Bill” and Margaret Rodenbeck, brothers - Sonny Rodenbeck and Marvin “Dusty” Rodenbeck and her sisters – Elvira Rodenbeck, Ruth Henig, Lorene Moehenke, and Katy Mikus.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor.
A Celebration of his Life and a Celebration for all that God did through Carol’s life will be held on Thursday, August 17th, 11:00am, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on 3rd Street in Thorndale, Texas with burial in the Detmold Cemetery.
