Edna Effie (McKinney) Youngblood Friesenhahn, of Taylor, passed away on Monday October 28th 2013 just 7 days after her 88th birthday. Effie was born on October 21st 1925 to Charles and Buelah McKinney in Atascosa County, Texas. She had 4 brothers, and 4 sisters, who all precede her in death.
Effie loved her family first before anything else. She loved to cook enchiladas and bake banana bread. At the holidays she baked each family member their favorite pie; sometimes she would have had many as 10 different kinds of pies. She was always in the kitchen and was always wearing an apron. She loved to raise animals and loved being outdoors; she loved to just get in the car on Sundays and start driving – never knowing where she would end up.
Edna was an active member of the Church of Christ in LaVernia, Texas where she lived for over 30 years before moving to Taylor in June of 2012.
Effie was residing at SPJST Senior Living Center at the time of her death.
Effie married Claude Ernest Youngblood on August 21st 1944 and had 4 children with him; daughter Claudene (husband Robert) White (both deceased); daughter Shirley Knight (husband Dan, deceased) of Thorndale; daughter Billie Nusbaum of Taylor; and son John (wife Laurie) Youngblood of Seguin.
After her divorce, Effie remarried to James Joseph Friesenhahn on December 5th 1969; James preceded her in death on April 30th, 2011.
Also surviving her are 12 grandchildren; Ernest (Kathy) Knight, Joseph (Leslie) Knight, Chilton (Rebecca) Knight, Rachel (Matt) West, Wendy (Glenn) Conway, Misty (Kenneth) Meyer, Mason Nusbaum, Daniel Long, Cory Youngblood, Brian Courtney, Laura (Dale) Randol, and Tom White; and 24 great-grandchildren, Austin, Shelby, Ashley, Elizabeth, Kylie, Conner, Chloe, Addison, Elizabeth, Gabby, Jasmine, Damian, Spencer, Shelby, Clayton, Taylor, Chezni, Hudson, Cameron, Madysn, Alexis, Kadnce, Kember, and Karter (born October 24th 2013); and one-great-great-grandson she just missed, Bowen Dale Randol (just born October 28th, 2013).
In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, several cousins and many, many friends.
