Irene Marie Cavanaugh

Irene was born July 11, 1947 to the late John & Germilla Pavlasek. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Taylor, TX and decided to continue her education to receive her associates degree in business from Temple College. Irene married her forever love Larry Joe Cavanaugh June 15, 1968 and celebrated 55 years of marriage before Joe’s passing.

Irene first entered her financing career as a teller with First State Bank of Texas and retired after 40 years of dedication as a bookkeeper/ banker from Cadence Bank, Bartlett, TX. She was a member of the Ss Cyril Methodius Catholic Church, where she was very active to include organizing & teaching “Catechism” CCD classes for the youth of the church, she also served as Eucharist minister for many years. Irene was strong in her faith to God.

Irene loved her family deeply, they were her greatest joy. She loved watching sports, mostly when her son was playing and her joy continued as her grandchildren were involved in sports as well. She also had a passion for shopping, not only for herself but mainly for her loved ones and their needs.

Irene had a magical way of planning and taking family vacations enjoying all of the love and memories made along the way.

Irene leaves behind many cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those that that knew her. Irene is preceded in death by her husband Larry Joe Cavanaugh and sister Linda Grigsby. Parents Johnnie & Germilla Pavlasek. Father & Mother in Law Wallace & Doris Voight. Irene is survived by her son Kevin Cavanaugh (Joann Bell). Sister Patsy (Jim Hightower. Brother in Law Don Grigsby & Sister in Law Tina (Travis Steglich). Grandchildren Kailey (Logan Mahlock), Cameron Cavanaugh (Julie Rhoades), Kaycee Cavanaugh & Gavin Bell. Nephews Brandon Grigsby (Kathleen & children Josiah & Leslieanne), Thomas Steglich & Todd Steglich (Liz), Nieces Amy (Phillip Martinka) & Heidi (Brad Cooper). Great Nephews Aydon & Kyle Grigsby, Archie & Claude Steglich, Great Nieces Emma & Abigail Martinka, Addison Cooper & Emily Steglich.

Funeral services: Saturday January 18, 2025 at Ss Cyril & Methodius Church, Granger Texas. Rosary will be recited at 9:20 a.m. With Legion of Mary & Mass will follow at 10 a.m. with Pastor Rev. Hilario Guajardo & Deacon Mack White officiating.

Place of Internment: Holy Cross Mausoleum Granger, Texas
