

Norma Jean Ladewig Swensk, 84, of Las Vegas, NV passed peacefully Monday evening, March 20, 2017. A loving Mom and Nanna, she was surrounded by her family as she succumbed to dementia with Lewy Body disease. Norma Jean was born in Taylor, TX, January 14, 1933 to Benton and Viola Ladewig, their only child. She grew up in Taylor, an excellent student, a talented tap dancer, and cornet player in the high school band. She graduated in 1950, then moved to Dallas after marrying Arthur Clayton Swensk in 1952. Norma Jean - or Jeanie as she was known most of her life - worked as an executive assistant for big industries such as Hewlett Packard and Otis Elevator Company. She was a devoted Mother to children, Mickey and Sherry, a passionate Avon sales lady, and an outstanding bowler; named Women's Dallas City Champion in 1964. Norma Jean moved to Las Vegas in 1998 and loved being Nanna to her only grandchild, Ethan David Bentz, now turning 15. She will be laid to rest in Taylor City Cemetery next to her parents on Saturday, April 1. Norma is also preceded in death by her son, Michael Victor (Mickey) Swensk, who passed in 1995 and her ex-husband Art, married 26 years, who passed in 2009. She never remarried. Norma is lovingly survived by daughter, Sherry Swensk, grandson, Ethan Bentz, both of Las Vegas, numerous Texas cousins, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 1 at Noon at Condra Funeral Home, 503 Talbot St., Taylor, TX 76574.
