Alma Retta Buchanan

Born April 1st 1941 to Vernon and Mary (Lester) Buchanan. She was the most beloved daughter, sister, and second mother to her nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by Father and Mother, Paternal Grandparents Rev. Arch Buchanan, Sr. and Virginia Smith Buchanan; Maternal Grandparents, Thomas E. Lester and Suda Lester.

She is survived by her brother: Alvin (Cotton) Buchanan with whom she made her home.

Sister: Ellene Buchanan Washam of Maynardville, Tn.

Nephews and wives: Chris and Lisa Washam of Knoxville, Blake and Vanessa Washam of Maynardville,Tn. Robin and Jerry Scott of Maynardville,Tn. Tracy and Brian White of Knoxville,Tn.(8 great nieces and nephews who loved Auntie dearly.) We will miss her forever.

She was saved at an early age and was a member of Young’s Chapel Baptist Church but the sickness kept her from attending. She took care of our dear mother for 9 years at home after Mother had a stroke and was bedfast.

The family will receive friends in Coffey Funeral Home Chapel from 6 to 8 pm Monday night. Funeral service will be 11:00AM Tuesday. March 18, 2014 at Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Irish Cemetery next to her beloved father and mother.

Pallbearers will be her great nephews: Matt Scott, Luke Scott, Jacob Watson, Colby White, and nephews, Brian White, Jerry Scott, Blake Washam.

Conducting funeral service will be her beloved nephew Rev. Chris Washam.
